The underlining theme of these works is the fragility and impermanence of human life. We always feel small and lonely when facing the unimaginable vastness of the universe. The universe arouses in us a sense of curiosity mixed with awe and fear. It also leads us to questions about the meaning of our own existence and our significance, as human beings, in the universe.
If we think of human society as a small universe, we would then be just tiny grains of cosmic dust, the human cosmic dust floating about in the endless expanse of the universe of life. Within our limited time here on earth, one should come to understand the real essence of one's existence so that one can live better, with more meaning and love, because life is too short and fragile to waste.
And if we could look at our planet earth from a cosmic perspective, we would be taken aback at how small it is. This earth that we always thought was so large is but another grain of dust floating in the universe's infinity, a blue grain dust that could be blown into oblivion by even the slightest gust of wind...
